Health, Energy and Consciousness in Natural Breathing with Victoria Austin
In the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali teaches that pranayama practice unveils our light and heralds the dawn of wisdom. He outlines the method: prolonged and fine inhalation, exhalation and retention; all regulated with precision according to duration and place.
This five-day immersion will focus on establishing the home practitioner in the foundations of pranayama practice:
• Breath observation, Ujjayi and Viloma in reclining and seated positions
• Introduction to retention
• Introduction to fine digital control
• Training perception and responsiveness through internal touch and sound
• Addressing issues such as practice time, handling physical restrictions, over- or under-control in breathing, mental excitation or laxity, unconscious habits and imbalances
Prerequisite: 6 months’ asana study with a certified teacher of Iyengar yoga
Equipment needed:
• 3 firm blankets
• 2 blocks
• folding chair
• yoga belt
• sticky mat
• clean washcloth or pink roll
