It is a fact that as we age, we lose muscular mass and strength. We also hear of lower bone density leading to osteoporosis or porous bones, putting us at risk for falls. While there is a genetic component to how our bodies age which is out of our hands, there is also a lifestyle component where what we do makes a difference. Bones respond to stress (weight bearing) by laying down more bone building cells. 

In this workshop we will focus on using yoga postures and modifications of postures to stimulate healthy bones through weight bearing. We will emphasize strengthening with an awareness of our alignment, how our bones and joints are stacking up. There will be supports and modifications offered so that students can work at their individual ability to maintain the pose with steadiness.
