Intro to Pranayama: Learning Peace and Quiet in Body, Mind, and Breath

B.K.S. Iyengar taught that when the diaphragm can function fully, the stresses and strains of modern life can settle down. How might we learn to relieve stress from inside in this way?

Pranayama the fourth of the eight limbs of yoga, helps us to understand the interrelationships between breathing, mindful awareness, and state of mind. In this special one month series, we will explore several introductory pranayama practices, geared for continuing beginners and intermediate students who have studied Iyengar yoga asanas for 6 months or more. The class will be online to allow practitioners to join from home, to support equanimity throughout the day.

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing, and come with an empty stomach, beverages are OK before class. Props needed: 4 firm blankets, 2 blocks, 1 yoga mat, 1 washcloth.

Thursday mornings, 7:00-8:00 AM
July 23 and 30th and August 6th and 13th.
